How to Successfully Study from Home
With the decision of Universities to adapt to online learning due to COVID-19, many students are finding it challenging. Studying from home may not be as exciting as attending lectures with your fellow students. With difficulties such as internet connectivity and time management, there are a whole lot of reasons why Studying From Home may not be as easy as you think.
To make your experience smooth sailing, here are some methods that you can follow to successfully study from home.
1. Follow Schedule
Imagine being at college and following a schedule of your classes and due date of your assignments. To keep up with the workload as well as household chores. You need to prepare a schedule, make sure to include your online class timings, your assignments, and keep a break time in between to re-energize. Following an organized set schedule will give you enough time to rest and stay proactive. For international students, remember to take into consideration the time difference between your local time and lecture time. Prepare your timetable based on the University time zone, so you don’t fall behind in your classes.
2. Balanced diet
While studying from home, maybe a good excuse to enjoy home-cooked meals and splurge on junk food. Munching on snacks all the time is harmful and will eventually make you ill. Instead of suffering, have delicious healthy meals at the designated time in the morning, afternoon, and night to limit unnecessary eating. Avoid having late-night junk food sessions as they will harm your system and distract you from learning.
3. Sleep Cycle
Being at home may feel like a vacation, get up anytime, and sleep anytime. But having a bad sleep cycle and only sleeping for 3 hours in the morning will not help you concentrate and learn online. Develop a healthy sleep cycle so you are fresh and energetic to attend your classes.
4. Designated Work Station
Attending an online lecture from the comfort of your bed may sound attractive. But doing so is unhealthy and will lead you to sleep during classes. The best way to gain from online learning is by having a designated area to study. Make sure you have a sturdy chair and desk, avoid having distractions like mobile phones, games around, and keep only your notes, a bottle of water, charger, and laptop. Also, remember to have good lighting and air circulation as these are important factors that will help in your concentration and attentiveness.
5. Stay Active
Lazying around and playing video games may be fun and entertaining. But exercise regularly to stay active and for a positive effect on your mind and body.
Make your studying from home experience enjoyable and fruitful with these successful tips.
