COVID 19 Australia - Latest Updates for International Students

Australian government and universities have taken special emergency measures to help international students.
General Updates for International Students
The Red Cross is financially supported by the government of Australia. Temporary visa holders will be provided basic essentials for next 6 months.
Temporary visa holders can make use of their superannuation (up to $10,000) to survive this corona crisis.
International students can work a maximum of 40 hours per week in supermarkets.
Updates from universities for International students
Flinders University supports students (who are eligible) by providing scholarships up to $2000. Fee for students services and amenities is completely waived for all students.
La Trobe University offers $3000 as a one-time payment for students to cover their living expenses.
RMIT University announced a $10 million aid for students. This amount will be used to support students for their financial needs and technology needs.
Deakin University has so far approved 730 support requests it got from students asking for financial aid.
Curtin University has allocated $8 million for students who are facing financial difficulties due to the Corona crisis.
Monash University is offering aid to students on an emergency basis. They offer $500 as short term support.
Western Sydney University announced a 10% fee reduction for current international students.
To help needy students, Macquarie University is offering $1000 as a loan. Also, they are offering $2000 under the grant scheme.
Murdoch University has allocated $2 million to help students who are financially affected by COCID-19.
Other Important Announcements:
Some universities are planning to reduce the tuition fee and change the payment terms.
If your current visa is nearing expiry, apply for a new visa. Also, interstate travel is restricted and only a few states allow you to enter.
